Community Advisory Group at City of Forest Park

The community members were brought together over the course of 6 weeks to train through workshops on climate factors, health impacts, climate mitigation, and adaptation plans. Utilizing the Forest Park workbook, these workshops helped Forest Park residents to learn more about climate impacts in their specific neighborhood through historical analysis, and developed a community-led resiliency plan to utilize for future advocacy. We conducted various activities—such as a Photo-voice voice activity, where residents went around their neighborhood to document current issues they have noticed in their community, and provide solutions to combat these issues—and a mapping activity, where we provided the group with a detailed map of Forest Park, and had them map out their climate impacts and adaptation solutions so we could digistixe their ideas on our Resilience Plan Map.
