Groundwork Ohio River Valley in partnership with Green Umbrella, Center for Great Neighborhoods and City of Covington engaged in a neighborhood climate planning workshop through their Climate Advisory Group (CAG) of the Climate Safe Neighborhoods. The 6 week workshop helped the residents to learn more about climate impacts and developed a resiliency plan. Specifically, residents were recruited from frontline communities to participate in Climate Advisory Groups (CAG) in the neighborhoods of Austinburg, Helentown and Eastside. The CAG members were compensated to create neighborhood-levelplans based on the existing environmental and socio-economic data to justify projects necessary for the community including vacant lot transformation, and policy recommendations to local government, among others. The community members were trained through workshops on climate factors, health impacts, climate mitigation, and adaptation plans. More information about the project can be found here.
